Each motion distributes product differently and changes clumping, volume and frizz. The way you apply your stylers is just as important as the products themselves.
The Three Main Techniques
Raking is best for detangling and ensuring even coverage, though it can break up curl clumps. Praying hands smooths the cuticle to reduce frizz and encourage larger clumps. Glazing (or “scrunching in”) is ideal for adding a final layer of hold without disturbing the curls you’ve already formed. Experiment with combining these to find your signature look.
